Taskvault (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data we collect
We collect the following categories of data when you use the Service:
- Account information: name, email address, and password (hashed) when you register
- Profile data: avatar, display name, and preferences you set in the app
- Usage data: tasks, projects, activity logs, XP events, and gamification progress
- Authentication data: login timestamps, device type, IP address, and approximate location (country/city) for security purposes
- Communication data: messages and @mentions sent within the platform
- Third-party sign-in data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Provide and improve the Service
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Calculate gamification metrics (XP, streaks, leaderboards, badges)
- Send product-related notifications (e.g., badge unlocks, @mentions)
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and real-time infrastructure (data stored in their managed cloud)
- Vercel — application hosting and edge network
- Google OAuth — optional sign-in method (no data shared beyond authentication)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
4. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, your personal data will be removed or anonymized within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to maintain your session and remember preferences such as your theme and recently searched items. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export your data in a portable format

7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and role-based access controls within the platform. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
