@Mentions & Watchers

Taskvault has two ways to bring specific people's attention to a todo or discussion: @mentions for targeted callouts in text, and watchers for ongoing notifications about a todo's lifecycle.

@Mentions in comments and messages

Type @ followed by a name in any comment, message board post, or todo description to mention a team member. An autocomplete dropdown appears with matching members — select one to insert the mention.

The mentioned user receives an in-app notification immediately. A green presence dot in the autocomplete dropdown shows which members are currently online.

@all — notify everyone

Type @all to notify every member of the current project simultaneously. Use this sparingly — it generates a notification for every project member, which can feel noisy if overused. It is most appropriate for important announcements on the message board.

Watchers

Watchers are members who have opted in to receive a notification when a specific todo is marked done. Unlike assignees (who are responsible for the work), watchers are stakeholders who want to know when the work is complete.

To add watchers to a todo, open the todo detail dialog and find the Watchers field. Search for and add any project members. Watchers can be added by anyone, not just the assignee or project admin.

Bulk completion and watcher notifications

When todos are bulk-marked done, watcher notifications are batched: each watcher receives one notification per person who triggered the bulk action, not one notification per todo. This prevents notification flooding when a large batch of watched todos is completed at once.

Removing yourself as a watcher

Open the todo detail and find your name in the Watchers field. Click the remove icon next to your name to stop receiving notifications for that todo.
